This film showcases the pioneers of space exploration. This documentary starts with John Lovell. His love of flying stared when he saw the Spirit of St. Louis airplane. Many of these men began their interest in flights with rockets and learning about jet engines. One of these men describe the crashes that happen with the airplanes. They talk about flying an airplane in the dark and turning the airplane around by using only a pin light to find the controls. These kinds of events made the pilots ready for the next big step.

What is the Gemini 6?

The Gemini 6 was the name of the team for space exploration. This film shows the Gemini 6 capsule floating in space. The movie showcases a bunch of footage of the pilots cut with modern interview footage. Many of the interviews feature the pilots describing the training experience from their first hand accounts. During the times of the Vietnam war era on the 1960. The astronauts being interviewed said that the Saturn V was 365 feet tall and weighed 6 million pounds. They mentioned they had bacon and eggs for breakfast before taking off in the rocket. This film also features footage of these spacecraft and the vans where the astronauts are being transported to the ship. After transporting to the rocket they begin their lift into the sky.

As the movie continues to catapult forward the pilots describe the velocity and the different stages of the capsule. The pilots describe looking at the planet getting smaller and smaller as they float further into space. Their memories are really vivid and they are able to describe the details that only they would know from the experience.

They speak about the blue planet set against the black background. They were so lucky to be able to witness this unique sight. The landing was also a big moment for them too. They released the parachutes and the capsule landed on the ocean surface. The ability of these men to physically be in shape and mentally be ready to solve any problems while in outer space. Apollo 8 was the first time they looked at the moon from outer space.

Society was excited to see the astronauts try to escape the turbulent times and explore the unknown skies outer space. This movie features a mixtures of animation and also real footage from the space flight. The journey they took reflects how amazing the world seems from a different perspective.
